5 good things

Someone suggested listing 5 good things about today, and it seemed like a good idea:

  1. Sleeping with the windows open
  2. Waking up with Mike to cuddle
  3. Having a lie in before I had to get up, and still being bright and early for work (ie 9am :-)
  4. Lovely warm sunny day, cycling to work in the sunshine, not needing a jumper or coat
  5. Knowing I worked 90 mins over yesterday so can take a long lunchbreak

I *do* like hot spring days.

In other news we (Mike and I) did the quiz at the Carlton last night for the first time in ages. It had an american theme since one of their new regulars Team America are heading back to the states this week. So the picture round was an extra and was all presidents (we got Clinton, both Bushes, Washington, Reagan and Nixon right) and the other 50 questions were one for each of the 50 states in alphabetical order. We came second last with 36, but would have needed to do much worse to get the booby prize it seems. Favourite question: "Why is the town of Levan in (state) so called?". Answer: "Because it's in the middle and it's [navel] backwards". We cracked up completely when we realised we'd actually got it right. Team America got 50 points and came somewhere in the top third, and the Anoraks won with 61. I don't think I'm going to take to doing the quiz regularly again, for one thing it's just too busy, but it made a nice change, and we had a pleasant meal first in the garden in the last rays of the evening sun.

Work was good yesterday too with a positive review and a really useful meeting late afternoon. And I voted on the way into work this morning, which always makes me feel good even if I don't ultimately feel like the candidate I voted for is necessary much better than the alternatives. The other four people voting while I was there all came by bike too.
