for JDC

My mum recently forwarded me this quote, which I thought would particularly amuse JDC, but may also make the rest of you smile:

Archbishop Huddleston's part in the long apartheid struggle was recognised in the invitation extended to him to attend the inauguration celebrations of the new South Africa as an honoured guest alongside the international heads of state. Recognition from this country came only later with the award of a KCMG in the New Year Honours of 1998. Mirfield had anticipated this in its own way many years before when, on his first return from South Africa, he was elected to honorary life membership of the Nab Working Men's Club in Battyeford.
