dark side of the moon

Now that's what I call music

The jukebox just played the following two tracks:

  • The Futureheads - Robot
  • Bloc Party - Like Eating Glass

So I decided it was time for a 6musicish set. At first I just picked whoever I thought of, then went through the alphabet looking for things, this is what we've got:

  • Hot Hot Heat - You Owe Me An I O U
  • The Hives - Hate to Say I Told You So
  • Razorlight - Don't Go Back To Dalston
  • Rilo Kiley - Does He Love You?
  • Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure
  • Auf der Maur - I'll Be Anything You Want
  • The Avalanches - Electricity
  • The Bees - Chicken Payback
  • British Sea Power - Please Stand Up
  • Delays - Hey Girl
  • Elbow - Grace Under Pressure
  • Engineers - New Horizons
  • Franz Ferdinand - The Dark Of The Matinée
  • The Futureheads - First Day
  • Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
  • Idlewild - Safe And Sound
  • Jeff Buckley - Lover, you should,ve come over
  • Kaiser Chiefs - Caroline, Yes
  • Kings Of Leon - Milk
  • LCD Soundsystem - daft punk is playing at my house
  • Neil Finn - Don't dream it's over (live at The Palace Theatre)
  • Pixies - Caribou
  • PJ Harvey - This Is Love
  • Pulp - Lipgloss
  • Supergrass - Jesus Came From Outta Space
  • The Tears - Imperfection
  • The Von Bondies - Pawn Shoppe Heart
  • Wedding Present - Brassneck

Of course someone who was actually any good at DJing would be more discriminating and pick things that actually went together better, or at least put them in a better order. I've no idea how you learn these things :-) Most of the tracks are from recent purchases of mine, some older, one or two are rjk's and a few are from the HMV playlist CD from February 2005.

In other news yesterday I slept most of the day, locked myself out for an hour and a half in the rain with no shoes in the afternoon, went to a party at GR in the evening which was mostly pleasant and had good beer, came home late and stayed up later geeking, got much better at both loopy and crochet, made djsd a CD of porn, cooked dinner for tonight, and generally faffed. A pleasantly quiet weekend for the most part.

Now that's what I call dinner

Ingredients:

  • 3 rashers smoked bacon, fat removed
  • 4 large cloves garlic
  • 320g tin mixed beans
  • fresh rosemary and thyme
  • 2 lean lamb steaks
  • 2 low fat sausages
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 400g tin tomatoes

Method:

Chop bacon and garlic. Put in oven proof pan with beans, herbs, and a pint or so of water. On a low heat simmer for a long time til thickened. Meanwhile cube sausage and lamb and fry in the olive oil until sealed. Add the tomatoes and the meat, place lid on pan and put in low oven. Leave to cook for several hours until thick and rich with the lamb tender enough to fall to pieces. Serve with mashed spuds (with more garlic in!).

In other news I think I'm going to give up alcohol for the meantime. At least a month. And that's the second low fat filling meal today (having had a 3 egg omelette for lunch with onion, a little bacon, peppers and mushrooms, made with only the remaining fat from frying the meat for dinner). I'm wearing a brand new pair of jeans today, and want to get too thin for them as soon as possible. At least partly because I'm sick (sic) of the fact being overweight gives me terrible indigestion.
